Default People Who Get Run

Warning: This will be mostly a rant.

Are people really that lazy to need someone to run them from one place to another? Why does it feel like no one actually plays this game anymore?

The final mission in both Factions and Nightfall are, or once were, possible to be run by someone.

Rarely do I see people in the Maguuma Jungle. It gets rather annoying seeing Level 2-6 players with elite armor on and expect people in Iron Mines of Moladune to accept them into groups. I'm sure some have noticed people beating one of the campaigns and not having a clue who Prince Rurik, Master Togo, Mhenlo, Kormir or Gwen are.

Ever wonder what would happen if it was made so people couldn't get runs through Snake Dance?

-end rant-

So here's the main statement: What do you think about people who ask for runs through just about anything?

Also, thank you for reading my thread.

when you are on your 8th pve character, fighting to every location on 3 expansions seems a little stupid wouldnt you agree?

because they have done it before on their other characters, and they don't want to do them again.

I don't run through anything. Well, maybe because I noticed that it's a money sink... But still, if someone like me has 6 characters, don't expect that he will play the game normally.

For example, I would pay even 40k for someone to get my monk to at least Desolation. Why? Because I have a Paragon at the same location... And tell me, which char should I get to DoA first ~~

I'm more a PvP player and only got 1 real PvE char. I do have an old 55 monk too though, i made him to farm a bit for fun, not to finish campaigns. I finished all campaigns once with the 1 real PvE char i have and that's enough. If i would create another PvE char, then i would definately run him and i did that with the 55 monk too. (i would do it myself though logging on another account and run myself )

I finished all campaigns though and those names you wrote down sound familiar, but i don't really know who all of them are. I always skipped cut-scenes too... So there you go

They are goal oriented.

They don't care about challenge of defeating Shiro, they want their armor. They don't care about exploring Maguuma jungle, they want Drok's armor. They don't care about following the story of Koss, they want to get to the farming place somewhere in Istan.

It really is that simple - bypassing pointless tasks to achieve a goal. It's the same reason we prefer e-mail to snail mail these days. It's faster and more efficient.

Same reason we eat at McD or order out - cooking something yourself takes time, so it's better to find a faster and easier option that allows you to spend more time doing things you like.

I have 2 kinds of chars

The first kind are my main chars which do pretty much everything. This has been reduced to 1 char from the 2 it used to be. This char does everything first, so I know the content before I start getting others to places.

The second kind are utility chars, their usage is almost exclusively for farming or free chest running. Really, who wants to play through a campaign as a monk? Boring and can be slow if you HH, annoying and slower if you pug. Occasionally I'll run people to places on these chars, usually to Sanctum Kay or Longseye Ledge.

Apart from being easy to skip, I think a lot of people skip the jungle because it's quite challenging if you get there at the level you're supposed to be. I know I found it harder than the later missions on my then main char, since I was a noob. No elites, nothing. Now, with tomes, it's much easier to get a decent build going early.

This doesn't even matter, anyway. Even without runs you don't have to go through the jungle. On my second character, I just went straight through to Sanctum Cay and then the desert. No runs required. Prophecies is just cool like that. Hell, with 4 'continents' to explore, and the ability to create new characters on 3 of them, by the time you get to a different continent, you'll already be level 20, and able to run yourself, for the most part.

Honestly, are you upset that people are skipping content, or that they are 'ruining the game for themselves.' Because either way, I don't see it impacting your game at all.

Not at all, I'd think it's pretty stupid to make another character if you don't actually have the interest in playing it.

I've got 10 characters, one of each profession, spread across all three campaigns. I play a little here, I play a little there. There is nothing in this game I've found that's so boring that it isn't still fun with a friend or two or a quick in and out H/H while I chat on TS.

Maybe all 10 will never see the end of each campaign before I'm tired of the game altogether, maybe I'll wind up with Legendary Protector for all 10, can't say either way at this point. But I can say that I'll never take the shortcut of having someone else play the game for me.

I think they want to get a new Character they have made to the end game without having to go through all the crap you have to do to get to the endgame. They have the Gold to pay cause they are not new to the game. If somebody is willing to pay for a service then said service will be given. It does not bother me at all. I have Run people to Droks and i have gotten runs to droks.

People just want to get the pretty armour fast and play the rewarding content ASAP.

I don't get runs... even though i have 10 characters who have mostly played through all the same campaigns, but that's just me.

I can however understand if it's like the 4th, 5th+ time going through a campaign how people would want runs. It's reasonable. Has nothing to do with "not being able to play the game". Just being bored of doing the same thing, i guess...

We went through this before and we ended up with the locked gates of Cantha which VERY few like. The system in Elona is tolerated, but not really liked. Even then someone rich enough can *always* get a run and there is almost no way around it as they could always just pay a full party to play the mission for them. Those that aren't rich enough just go someplace else.

It is a fact of the game and there is nothing one can do about it. The only people who affect you are the ones that are level 20 and don't know how to play - everyone else can be ignored. But then no running didn't result in more competent players, just vastly fewer players to choose from and a general inability to form groups at all. In fact, it tended to reduce the amount of competent players since most just went far enough to get the elites they wanted due to not being able to play in the way they enjoyed. See Cantha's current state compared to the other two.

Most of the people I've run have already beaten the game, and like others have said, there's no real need for them to have to go through it again.

Maguuma is a great place, and I try to do runs there as often as I can. It's just so out of the way and easy to ignore. People want to finish quickly and that's all good.

That might go up for PvE, but you should come visit RA sometime, i am still amazed how some retards reached the battle isles with their PvE chars. Somebody must have ran them to LA or so, because there's no other logical explanation.

back before the "j" menu fix for PvP characters, you had a huge advantage of running a PvE character in PvP, so a lot of PvPer's would make a char in a couple days to be able to use it without having to play through the entire game and spending their time in an area of the game they had less of an interest in.

I have to admit I have both gotten and given runs to my fellow alliance members. Usually from either Ascalon City to Lion's Arch so we can cross to NF and get our first heroes, or from LA to Ascalon with non-Tyrian characters so we can get protector.

I've also gotten run to Droknar's Forge with some non-Tyrian characters so I could help other Alliance people with those missions and get them out of the way. Since I tend to go for protector on every character I play through a campaign, I end up with every single outpost on the map anyway.

I'm also a tad obsessive about unlocking skills, so all my characters have all the skills available for their primary profession, which means I get everywhere to cap those skills as well.

My guildies and alliance friends tell me I'm crazy, however the fact that I have everything on the map usually means I can help them either get somewhere, or help them do something in pretty much any area of the game.

Not everyone getting a run is lazy. Sometimes we are just in a hurry to get to an area a bit early, usually for a specific reason.

We put in work to farm cash and then use that cash for runs. What's the problem with it? Nothing. It's like accusing someone of taking the taxi somewhere.
